Grail was built in 1986 in Port Townsend Washington by Jim Ferris to lines Drawn by Jim Franken.  She is built following traditional lake Union building techniques. With Fir dead-wood, Balu stem and stern post as well as heavy oak frames; she is planked with fir, has iron ballast and is joined with galvanized fasteners.  

She is 55ft over all with 12ft of beam. She carries a jib, club stay sail, gaff-fore sail and Marconi main sail totaling just under 1200 sq ft of sail. The Smith family have been her proud owners for the last 4 and a half years

Grail is a privately owned vessel.
